The Fellowship in Nursing Economics (FINE) educates the next generation of nursing leaders in the economic power and influence of nursing care—equipping them to engage in reimbursement, payment reform, and healthcare system decision-making.
Through applied learning, expert mentorship, and project-based work, FINE helps nursing leaders translate clinical expertise into economic insight that informs policy, strengthens healthcare sustainability, and advances the value of nursing across care settings.
Applications for the next Cohort are open through June 1, 2026. The Fellowship will begin in September 2026.
Applicants are required to submit a completed application, personal statement, current CV, and two letters of recommendation, along with a $75 non-refundable application fee.
FINE—the Fellowship in Nursing Economics—teaches you to speak the language of healthcare finance and prove your economic value. Stop being invisible in budget conversations. Learn to influence policy, advocate for reimbursement, and show up differently in the rooms where decisions are made. Applications close June 1, 2026.

Applicants should have at least 2 years of professional experience in nursing, healthcare leadership, health administration, finance, operations, or related healthcare roles. Practical experience is essential, as the Fellowship focuses on applied economics and real-world policy challenges.
FINE seeks professionals who demonstrate a commitment to professional growth and the potential to influence nursing practice, organizational decision-making, or healthcare policy. Applicants should be motivated to apply economic insight to leadership and system change.
Fellows must have reliable internet access, a working camera, and the ability to create documents and presentations using standard digital tools. These requirements support active participation in live sessions, collaborative work, and capstone development.
CNR is committed to removing financial barriers for nurses ready to lead. A limited number of $1,000 Mission Advancement Scholarships are available for Cohort 2 applicants who demonstrate a commitment to advancing nursing's economic voice in their organizations and communities. Scholarship applications are reviewed alongside admissions — most applicants who request support receive it. Details and the scholarship application will be released soon.
Tuition for Cohort 2 is $2,500 and supports a rigorous Fellowship focused on nursing economics, reimbursement, and system-level leadership. The program is intentionally small and selective to ensure depth of engagement and meaningful impact.
